DORIS MCCARTHY "ALONG THE ATHABASCA Painting
A private edition giclee print by listed Canadian artist Doris Jean McCarthy. Signed, titled and dated 2003 in pencil on the bottom margin, Doris McCarthy is recognized as one of the nations leading landscape painters. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1930 and her career embraces more than 70 years of Canadian Art History. One of three panels of a triptych entitled: "Along the Athabasca", Jasper Park Lodge commissioned the work and the original proudly hangs in the grand hall of the hotel. McCarthy's lifelong ambition has been to paint the landscapes of Canada and Jasper National Park. "Along the Athabasca" is the only triptych of her career and is considered one of her most important accomplishments. Professionally framed under acrylic, it measures 15-1/4" x 17" x 2-1/8". The acrylic is clean and clear. The print is clean with no fading or foxing. The paper on the back is in good condition. Has a sturdy wire in the back, this is ready to hang.
